Amarillo Preps for Swine Flu

The City of Amarillo's Health Department is setting up a hotline to provide information and updates on the swine flu outbreak.

Even though we have no reported cases now, the City of Amarillo warns residents to be prepared.

Local emergency management officials participated in a nationwide conference call this afternoon on possible pandemic plans and what do next in the outbreak.

The city's emergency management coordinator says there is a plan in place for this kind of outbreak.

College and school officials will be briefed throughout the week.

The area health authority says the virus is passed from person to person, and you cannot get it from handling or eating pork or pork products.
