1981 Murder Suspect Free On Bond

A murder suspect is free after posting two $100,000 bonds.

James Terry Shelnutt is suspected in the 1981 murders of Robert Phillips and Phyllis Fassauer.

He was also indicted on federal charges this week for reportedly possessing firearms as a felon.

He could spend up to ten years in prison and a 250 thousand dollar fine if convicted of the firearms charge.

His murder trial is expected to start within the year.
