Stephen F. Austin Sate University responds to mass shooting threat

NACOGDOCHES, Texas (AP) - Authorities have descended on Stephen F. Austin State University after signs threatening a deadly mass shooting were found on and off campus.

University spokesman Bob Wright says all campus police officers were called in to work Thursday, and officers from the Nacogdoches police, the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Department of Public Safety were on hand.

According to an alert posted on the university's Web site, several signs listed Thursday's date and warned that students would die in a shooting.

The alert said signs at an off-campus apartment complex read, "10 people will be killed and shot at the grove," a reference to the complex's name. Wright says classes are being held as scheduled.
