Updated: Prison inmate stabbing at the Clements Unit

An investigation is underway this evening into what caused one inmate at Amarillo's Clements unit to reportedly stab and burn his cell mate.

Texas Department of Criminal Justice officials say the attack happened just before five this morning when two inmates got into an argument.

They say the attacker threw boiling water on the victim, then stabbed him seven times with a homemade knife.

The victim remains at an Amarillo hospital in stable condition. His wounds were not life-threatening.
