More Young Students Experimenting

More local children as young as 11 are experimenting with alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana.

This is according to the 2009 results of the Amarillo ISD Prevention Impact Index Survey released this afternoon.

Educators say they are now working to more aggressively inform middle school students about the dangers of substance abuse.

High school students on the other hand, are showing improvement in drug, alcohol, and tobacco use.

Educators say it is because of heightened community awareness and parental involvement.
