Fire Burns in NW Potter County

A fire that burned in northwestern Potter County was 75 percent contained as of Thursday night.

The Texas Forest Service says the fire burned about 55 acres near Brick Plant Road and Western street around 3:00 Thursday afternoon.  One home and two outbuildings were threatened, but were not damaged in the blaze.

The Forest Service and other fire departments used bulldozers and attack engines to help contain the fire. Despite the approaching winter storm, we remained under a red-flag fire warning for most of the day on Thursday.
