Proposed Texas bill would allow liquor sales on Sunday

Eliminating laws that ban alcohol sales on Sunday will help Texas with revenue, according to The Distilled Spirits Council.

Council officials testified before the House today in support of a bill that would permit Sunday sales.

If passed, it would allow package stores to open on Sundays for the first time since prohibition.

Sunday openings would generate between $93 million and $115 million in new sales, which would in turn earn the state between $8 million to 11 million in taxes.
