Congress Okays Ute Water Project

Construction is set to begin on the Ute Water pipeline pending President Obama's signature.

After two votes in the House, both the House and Senate approved the $432 million project on Wednesday.

Once completed, water from the Ute Reservoir in Quay County will be piped into eight New Mexico locations, including Clovis and Portales.

The project will be funded 75% federally, 15% by the state and 10% by water authority members.
