Texas company settles lawsuit for using scare tactics on the elderly

A direct marketing firm has agreed to refrain from using improper tactics to obtain the personal

information of senior citizens in Texas.

The agreement by Prospect Pros LLC ends a lawsuit filed by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott's office to stop allegedly misleading mass mailings to the elderly.

The lawsuit accused Prospect Pros, doing business as American Seniors Alliance, of using the mailings to scare seniors into providing personal information. The lawsuit says that information

was then passed on to client insurance companies and direct marketing firms.

According to the court document, Prospect Pros does not admit any wrongdoing. Also enjoined under the settlement are owners William D. And Lynn Thompson, formerly of Plano.
