Goyette pleads guilty to mailing threatening letters

A former Amarillo man faces up to 15 years in prison and 500,000 in fines.

Richard Goyette pleaded guilty to mailing threatening letters containing a suspicious powder to dozens of banks and officers across the country.

The 47-year-old accepted a plea agreement with prosecutors today for one count of threats and false information and one count of threats and hoaxes.

He had faced 64 counts of the latter offense.

Goyette mailed letters from a post office in Amarillo to 52 offices and banks in 11 states and the District of Columbia.
