Lies and scandals, election season is in full swing for the upcoming Presidential seat.  Some are saying a lot of what you are seeing in the national media can be biased.

Presidential candidates are under scrutiny, but many think that mainstream media is more critical of the republican party than the democratic party. One voter Donna Miller believe this election is one of this most crucial elections in our history. "This election is so exciting it's exciting for both parties you have a woman and a black man. How can you not be excited, Miller said.

The excitement is spilling over into the media. You can't go past a magazine stand with out seeing one of the candidates plastered on magazines. An example is in US Weekly, one week Barack Obama in a positive light. One week later, that same magazine shows Sarah Palin in a negative light.

Some voters say mainstream media should stick with the politics. "Instead of focusing on their political aspects they are focusing on their personal life," voter Brittany Satter said. Political Science professor, Dr. Dave Rausch says things can get slanted easily in the media. "Bias is in the eye of the beholder. They are telling the truth or their bias," he said.

Some voters say they are avoiding the tabloids and sensationalized headlines and are choosing to do their own research. "You can read what ever you want on the Internet it can tell anybody anything I really like to find out for myself ," Miller said.

Another Amarillo voters agree, "You need to get the broad spectrum and do a little digging of your own," Sarrett said. "It's one of those things were there's probably bias. Intelligent people recognize that bias and people pay attention adapt and find their own information," Professor Rausch said.
