AMARILLO, TX - An Amarillo man says he will  publicly burn the Islamic Holy book on September 11th, even though a Florida pastor has decided not to.

David Grisham says it's time for Christians to lead what he calls "lost souls" to Christ, and that's why he plans on burning the Quran at a city park Saturday.

This comes after President Obama, Army General Petraeus and several other US leaders pleaded with Gainesville, Florida minister, Terry Jones, to not go through with his plans to ignite several Quran's.

Grisham is the leader of a local radical Christian group. He tells NewsChannel 10,  he is not burning as representation of the organization.

According to Grisham, he has questioned why he should go through with his plan, but in the end, he feels it is right.

"Terrorism was seeded by the ideas in the Quran.  It's the Quran that has put our troops in danger.  Burning one isn't going to put our troops in danger. It's the ideas contained in that book that put them in danger." said Grisham

West Texas A & M University professor,  Dr. Amjad Abdullat says, the act is disrespectful to everyone regardless of their faith.

"We should be alarmed. It's an attack on religion. Today, it's Islam, tomorrow it could be something else.  We should not let this foster and we should condemn this." Abdullat exclaims.

The tentative burn will fall one day after the end of Ramadan, the Islamic Holy month.
