LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Texas Tech's board of regents have voted unanimously to go forward in a lawsuit, presumably the one brought against the school by fired coach Mike Leach.
Tech spokesman Cory Chandler said Wednesday the board met in executive session on a conference call for about an hour. He said Vice Chairman Jerry Turner afterward moved to have the board authorize the school to proceed in the lawsuit "within the parameters" discussed in executive session. The vote was unanimous.
Friday is the deadline for attorneys for Leach and the university to complete mediation in the former coach's lawsuit.
The university fired Leach with cause Dec. 30. The lawsuit's claims against the school include slander, libel and breach of contract.
