Associated Press - November 2, 2009 10:55 PM ET

DALLAS (AP) - A Dallas man has been sentenced to 3 years and six months in federal prison after prosecutors say he used a toy gun to rob a Texas bank.

A statement Monday from U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks says 53-year-old Freddie Darnell Ivory was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Reed C. O'Connor.

Prosecutors say Ivory admitted he robbed the First Convenience Bank in DeSoto on May 4. He approached the teller and displayed the toy gun. He threatened to "blow her head off."

He presented a note for money on the back of 1 his car payment receipts, which he left in the bank after getting the money and fleeing.

He was arrested shortly afterward. He led authorities to the backyard of a home where he had hidden the money and to the location where he threw the toy gun.
