Family Medicine

Family medicine is a three-dimensional specialty, incorporating knowledge, skill and process. We are trained to see not just the medical aspects, but also the context of your care, including behavioral, financial and family environment issues that are important contributors to your health. We want to treat you as a person, not just a disease or condition.

Obstetrics and Gynecology

At the Texas Tech Physicians Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology our mission is to improve the health of women by delivering the highest quality care and services for women throughout their life cycle, from infancy through menopause. We also provide consultative care to women with high risk pregnancies, infertility and hormonal disorders, gynecologic problems, urinary incontinence and uterine prolapse, cancers of the female genital tract and genetic disorders. We are on the leading edge in women’s health care research.

Internal Medicine

Doctors of internal medicine are trained specifically to meet the health care needs of adult patients. Physicians in the Department of Internal Medicine focus on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases more commonly found in adults. Due to that specialized training, internists are often called upon to help health care providers answer some of the body's most puzzling questions. Its that knowledge that ensures our adult patients receive the best information possible when making very important health care decisions, no matter how complex that decision might be.

Surgery

The Department of Surgery is home to the Division of General and Acute Care Surgery, head and heck surgery and surgical oncology. Faculty practice at the Texas Panhandle’s three major hospitals: Northwest Texas Hospital, Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospital and the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center. Surgeons at TTUHSC work with all other medical and surgery centers in the Amarillo area. Our surgeons perform the spectrum of laparoscopic, open general, breast, endocrine and chest, head and neck procedures. We also have a team of specialized pediatric surgeons on campus. Other specialty surgical practices based in the community include neurosurgery, orthopedic, vascular, plastic and bariatric surgery. Many practices have clinical faculty appointments with TTUHSC, which gives third and fourth-year medical students educational exposure to a variety of disciplines.

Pediatrics

The Texas Tech Physicians Department of Pediatrics offers state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment for children and adolescents. We strive to provide the highest standard of medical care for pediatric patients from birth through adolescence, encompassing primary, subspecialty, and tertiary care. Psychiatry

Breast Center of Excellence

The mission of the TTUHSC Amarillo Breast Center of Excellence (ABCE) is to provide state of the art comprehensive breast care program for the greater Amarillo area that includes multi-disciplinary cancer care, wide-ranging coverage of benign breast disease and care of healthy women that need screening and/or high risk management employing cutting edge management strategy through on-going education and research.

Infant Risk Center

Each year, more than 4.3 million women give birth in the U.S. Virtually all of these women will use at least one medication during pregnancy or during breastfeeding.

The InfantRisk Center will be dedicated to providing up-to-date evidence-based information on the use of medications during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Our goal is to provide accurate information regarding the risks of exposure to mothers and their babies. By educating healthcare professionals and the general public alike, we aim to reduce the number of birth defects as well as create healthy breastfeeding relationships.
