A New Mexico teen will now spend the next five years in custody after pleading guilty to murder.
16-year-old Orlando Salas was on trial for September killing of 10-year-old Carlos Perez while asleep in his bed.
He was sentenced this week after pleading guilty to conspiracy to commit first degree murder and several other charges.
His older brothers Edward Salas and Demetrio Salas have been held in custody since September on charges of first-degree murder for the shooting.
Police say a dispute between the victim's older brother Ruben and Orlando Salas at school led to the shooting, with Ruben being the intended target.
