ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) - The presumptive favorite to win the starting right guard spot with the Kansas City Chiefs worked out with the third team yesterday. The guy challenging him for the spot slid over to center during another portion of the workout. Rishaw Johnson and Zach Fulton are just the start of the offensive line shuffle. The Chiefs are trying to cobble together some sort of protection for quarterback Alex Smith that can also manage to open up running lanes for Jamaal Charles.
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Sam Bradford's as eager as anyone to be a difference-maker in a breakthrough season. He deals with the oversized burden of living up to getting picked first overall in 2010 every summer. Bradford appeared headed for his best year last year with 14 touchdown passes and just four interceptions before his season-ending left knee injury in Week 7.
CHICAGO (AP) - Tsuyoshi Wada earned his first big league win by pitching seven strong innings last night as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Colorado Rockies 4-1. Anthony Rizzo drove in two runs to back Wada. The sole blemish on Wada's performance came in the sixth when the Rockies got three hits.
