LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The family of a Plainview doctor killed by a semi-truck has filed a wrongful death suit against the driver of the truck and the company he worked for.
Doctor Bryan Peeler and his wife were traveling in separate vehicles on Highway 70 near Paducah on August 30th.
They decided to pull over on the side of the road so one of their children could use the restroom. As Peeler was helping his son, his wife saw the semi-truck approaching and started honking at her husband.
Peeler was able to toss his son out of the way before being struck and killed by the semi. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Earlier this week, Peeler's wife filed a civil lawsuit against the driver of the semi Leonardo Castro-Mora and his employer Sandoval Trucking in Olton.
According to the lawsuit, Peeler seeks to recover emotional and punitive damages.
