LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Former U.S. Attorney General says he's ready to start teaching at Texas Tech.  In just about a month Alberto Gonzales will join the political science department and become a part of the administration.

Gonzales told NewsChannel 11 he is anxious to start living and working in Lubbock this August. The course he will teach this fall is Contemporary Issues in the Executive Branch. He will also play an important role in minority recruitment and retention hoping that his presence at the university will encourage other Hispanics to want to further their education. Gonzales says his involvement in some very difficult decisions during one of the most historic periods of our nation's history are just some firsthand experiences he hopes to share with students.

"People will see that Texas Tech has attracted someone of a high profile Hispanic who has had some very unique opportunities and experiences and a Hispanic who believes in the Tech mission and hopefully Hispanics will say well if Al Gonzales is interested in Texas Tech maybe I should give Texas Tech a second look," says the former Attorney General.

Coming up on NewsChannel 11 at 10 Gonzales goes in depth about his goals for Texas Tech plus NewsChannel 11 asks him about some tough decisions he was part of while working under President George W. Bush.
