Property owners across texas are demanding an end of eminent domain for private gain.
They gathered at the state capitol today to urge legislators to support strong reform proposals and to reject weak proposals that would green-light eminent domain abuse.
A spokesman for the Texas Public Policy Foundation says, "We need to protect texas property rights. We need to do that in two things. We need to define public use and we need to eliminate the blight slum loop hole that exists in current law."
The Institute for Justice Texas chapter today issued a mid-term report card on various legislative proposals designed to address the ongoing problem.
Out of seven proposed bills, four have grades of A or better, two C's and one D.
