Dumas Chief of Police retires, new chief sworn in

DUMAS, TX (KFDA) - The Dumas Police Department celebrated the retirement of the Chief of Police Jim Nelson and welcomed their new chief, Captain Marvin Trejo.

Chief Nelson retired on retired from the Dumas Police Department on Tuesday.

Nelson has been a peace officer since 1978 and has served with the Dumas Police Department, Moore County Sheriff’s Department and the Sunray Police Department.

Chief Nelson was given a plaque during a ceremony for his many years of service as well as a pistol from the department.

Captain Marvin Trejo was sworn in as the new Chief of Police following Chief Nelson’s ceremony.

Following Chief Nelson's retirement Captain Marvin Trejo was sworn in as the new Chief of Police by County Judge Rowdy Rhodes.
