AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The Amarillo Women’s Network is hosting their annual awards event on Tuesday evening where they will present their career and lifetime achievement awards, honoring women who have achieved major milestones in their profession.

The 38th Annual Career and Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored each year by Amarillo Women’s Network, honors women who have either achieved a major career advancement or a milestone in their profession or career over time.

This year’s career achievement recipient is Laurie Higgins-Kerley, the Executive Director of Dove Creek Equine Rescue. Higgins-Kerley started Dove Creek Equine Rescue in 2011, a non-profit aiming to rehabilitate and place unwanted, abandoned and abused horses in the homes that are fitting to both horse and owner.

The lifetime achievement recipients include Professional Fundraising Executive Charlotte Rhodes and Executive Director of the Downtown Women’s Center Diann Gilmore.

With more than 35 years of experience as a professional fundraising executive, Rhodes has raised more than $1 billion for nonprofits throughout Texas, while Gilmore has served as the executive director of the Downtown Women’s Center for 16 years.

“I get to meet women at their lowest, most desperate moments and I get to watch them grow in to the women God wants them to be,” said Gilmore.

The Career and Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony will be held on Tuesday, March 19 at the Amarillo National Bank Skyline Conference Room at 410 S. Taylor Street at 5:30 p.m.
