Weather enthusiasts attend the Severe Weather Expo

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Weather enthusiasts and curious minds spent the day at the Severe Weather Expo hosted by the National Weather Service.

Participants learned about Skywarn spotting and participated in weather related experiments and games at the Amarillo Civic Center.

Speakers and broadcast meteorologists were present at the event, including NewsChannel10′s Samantha Thomas, Cameron Venable, and Shelden Breshears.

“We really want people to be thinking about their plans now and it gets them thinking about what they need to do if there’s a tornado and do that now, not when there’s a tornado warning. We’re in a severe weather part of the country we have significant severe weather significant tornados so everybody needs to really you know know what they’re up against and know what they need to do,” said Michael Gittinger, NWS Warning Coordination Meteorologist.
