Court date set for injunction on New Mexico racino

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - A date has been set for a court to hear the request for an injunction in an effort to keep New Mexico from moving forward with its sixth gambling license.

On April 4, a court will hear the injunction that was requested by Hildago Downs in efforts to stop the New Mexico Racing Commission from awarding the state’s sixth gambling license.

This comes as three businesses are looking to build a racino, hoping to bring the track and casino to Clovis, and one with hopes to build in Tucumcari. Full House Resorts based in Las Vegas, Nev. is proposing a racino resort with a golf course and moving grandstand. L&M Entertainment, a joint venture from companies in Albuquerque and Illinois is proposing Curry Downs Racetrack and Casino.

Some operations estimate operations as early as spring of 2020, while others say construction and development could complete the racino in three years if approved by the commission.
