AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The Amarillo Fire Department is partnering with the American Red Cross for smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm programs in order to better serve the community.
Both AFD and the American Red Cross have independently operated smoke alarm and carbon monoxide alarm programs for years, successfully making homes in Amarillo safer.
The two are now joining forces in an effort to create a more efficient and effective program, and will greatly increase the number of smoke alarms installed in individual residences.
The American Red Cross will provide and install alarms for free as well as provide additional educational materials.
Additionally, AFD will work to identify homes in need of alarms during the course of normal operations. When crews respond to homes during an emergency, AFD will have alarms to install if they notice a need for them or if it is brought to their attention.
Requests for both smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms should be directed to the American Red Cross at (806) 376-6300.
