AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Amarillo area Game Wardens are planning on increasing patrol for the annual Sand Drags event happening this weekend on the Canadian River.
Because a high volume of visitors are expected at the Sand Drags this weekend, Game Wardens will be working with the Potter County Sheriff’s Office, along with other local law enforcement agencies, to ensure public safety.
“We will be enforcing state laws including safety violations, as well as intoxication offenses, such as public intoxication, and DWI,” said Amarillo District Public Information Officer Shane Lewis.
Officials want to remind those planning on operating off-the-highway vehicles, such as ATV’s, UTV’s, dune buggies, etc., that they are required to have an OHV decal affixed to their vehicle.
Texas OHV decals can be purchased for $16 at the Texas Game Warden Amarillo District Office at 203 W 8th Petroleum Building Suite 200 in Amarillo.
The Sand Drags takes place on the Canadian River, north of Amarillo, from February 22 to the 24.
