AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The rebuilding of I-40 at the Ross and Arthur Street intersections is currently underway.
This project includes rebuilding four bridges in total, two in each direction.
The project is under the Haydon Building Corporation with an original bid of $36,259,776.70.
“This is part of the Texas Panhandle is a heavy truck corridor,” said TxDOT Amarillo Area Engineer Randy Hochstein. “We are raising this part of the I-40 bridge for better mobility for truck traffic in this area.”
Hochstein said TxDOT is also upgrading the Ross intersection, which will include a new signal and additional lanes to the frontage roads in both directions.
The entire project is expected to wrap up near the end of this summer.
