AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - The City of Amarillo is working to highlight local leaders in honor of Black History Month.

The Amarillo Public Library is one of several local organizations celebrating the important work of past and present African-Americans.

Leaders from the African-American community are invited to read at each Story Time throughout the month of February, and all are invited to attend.

These stories work to educate children on the important stories of African-Americans that were a part of the nation’s history.

Some local leaders hope children will learn that they too can overcome adversity and pursue whatever they set their minds to.

The next Story Time will be held Saturday, February 9th, at the Southwest Branch Library, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
