AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - Take the plunge this weekend and get freezin' for a reason for the Special Olympics Texas Polar Plunge.
The Polar Plunge gives individuals, businesses and organizations the opportunity to support Special Olympics Texas-Panhandle area athletes, with proceeds going towards year-round sports training, competitions and health and inclusions programs for those with intellectual disabilities.
The event takes place on January 26 at the Amarillo Town Club on 7700 Hillside.
Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. and the plunge is at 10:00 a.m. There is a $20 entry fee.
Those interested in participating can also register online as an individual or with a team.
At the end of the event, SOTX will offer awards for Individual Raising the Most Money, Team Raising the Most Money, and Best Costume.
All ages are welcome to participate but children under 18 must have a guardian sign a waiver and children under 12 must plunge with a guardian.
Anyone who is not willing to take the plunge but still wants to donate to the event or to those participating can do so online.
