Clovis Red Cross to hold ‘Sound the Alarm’ fire safety event

CLOVIS, TX (KFDA) - The New Mexico Chapter of the American Red Cross is holding a ‘Sound the Alarm’ home fire safety and smoke alarm installation event this weekend in Clovis, in effort to help reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by home fires.

Volunteers from Red Cross, Canon Air Force Base and the Community Emergency Response Team will be canvassing neighborhoods on January 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., installing free smoke alarms, replacing batteries in alarms and helping families create escape plans.

Since 2014, Red Cross and their partners across the country have saved at least 511 lives and installed over a 1.5 million free smoke alarms in all 50 states.

Those interested in joining this Red Cross effort can find more information about volunteering to install smoke alarms, making financial contributions or taking steps to protect families from house fires on their website.
