Fireworks building at North Western and Hester collapses after structure fire

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - According to the Amarillo Fire Department, a fireworks building located at North Western and Hester Road has collapsed after a structure fire on Friday afternoon.

On 1:27 p.m., AFD crews responded as mutual aid to the area of North Western and Hester Road to a structure fire.

Officials said the structure fire was a medium sized fireworks storage warehouse.

While firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, small fireworks began igniting. The warehouse eventually collapsed.

Crews ruled the fire under control at 3:23 p.m.

The building was believed to be unoccupied at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

The Potter County Fire Department is still investigating the cause of the fire.

You might have heard of Christmas in July, but how about Fourth of July in January? AFD responded to a Fire, today, at a small warehouse full of fireworks. Despite the fireworks display, crews were able to bring the blaze under control with no injuries. AFD assisted Potter County Fire on this Fire.
